When most people talk about immunity, it usually involves Vitamin C. While it IS a great idea to increase Vitamin C during the onset of sickness, it really isn’t the only thing you should be thinking about. You should be asking these questions: Why are you getting sick? Does this happen frequently? Are you someone who says, “I always get sick about this time every year.” Well, why? Why do you habitually and predictably get sick? That DOES NOT HAVE TO HAPPEN.

I can talk about immune-boosting foods all day, but I’ll be honest, it really doesn’t matter how many of those immune-boosting superfoods you start to eat before getting sick. Most likely, you will still get sick. If immunity lies in your gut, which it does, your gut needs to be on point.

Are you wondering to go about accomplishing this? EAT HEALTHILY CONSISTENTLY. Plain and simple. That is literally all you have to do. Maybe increase your fruits and veggies even more during cold and flu season. Personally, I change nothing about my diet during this time.

What I do change, however, is my supplement regimen. I increase my Vitamin D (up to 10,000 IU because I live in the Midwest) and I make sure my probiotic is 15+ billion. Sometime I increase to 60 billion units daily if that nasty bug is going around. Is this enough? Will I get sick? Maybe, but I stand a fighting chance.
